Two Suzettes Are Better Than One: Welcome to the TwinDom!

Ever meet a person you KNOW was heaven sent and divinely designed to be a part of your world and existence? I did! My husband. My BFF. And this here jewel I call my Twinny Twin, aka Black Romance writer extraordinaire, Suzette Riddick.

Picture this. It was 2016 and I’d recently released my third book, but my first African-American Historical Fiction novel, Taffy. After a 13-year hiatus since the release of my first two novels, I’d decided to follow my heart and dive into this new genre. Doing so was liberating, but also terrifying. Would my readers remember me? Would they embrace this new style of writing? God be praised, the reception was warm and absolutely welcoming! I received many messages of appreciation and encouragment. But one stood out for obvious reasons. A kind, gracious woman reached out to me. She was on vacation and reading Taffy. Of course, I was thrilled by her positive response, but it was her name that held my attention most. That, and the fact that she was also a wielder of the creative pen. I’d been blessed to meet another African-American writer named Suzette? Yes, honey, yes! Her sweet and courageous outreach proved the beginning of a sisterhood straight from heaven. Nine years and multiple hair styles have come and gone since then. But Twin and I are still rocking our TwinDom! (BTW: I credit Twin with creating our term, TwinDom).

Why even mention all of this? Because I wouldn’t be blogging again if it weren’t for my Twinny Twin. A wife, mother, Gigi (grandmother), and registered nurse, Twin is a natural encourager and nurturer. I slipped away from blogging a long while ago, and Twin has been on my head to get back in the blogging game ever since. Finally, I acquiesced and listened.

Thanks, Twin, for encouraging me to make room for this opportunity and means of connecting with readers in a beautifully casual, relaxed way. Again. I appreciate you for who you are, not just what you give. You are a gem and gift.

Now, if you’ve never read a book by my Twinny Twin and need a little romance uplift, get with it and visit her here.
